Caravan Owners... Please be careful

I know some of you own caravans on here, so I'm posting this as a warning

Today, I was overtaking a cavaran & car who was doing about 70-75 mph, as I got level with the driver, the caravan started to swerve... I looked over at the driver and saw a look of absolute terror on his face... at that point I put my foot down to get clear of what was certain to become an accident.

I looked in my rear view and saw the car spin right off the road, luckily he managed to catch it and it came to rest over the inside two lanes of the A1. Happily the caravan didn't turn over, and no one else hit them, so no injuries.. (apart from the blokes trousers perhaps? )

So please be careful... and don't speed with them, I will remember the look on that guys face for a long time to come !!!

Thanks

we have a caravan and never go more than 50/60! yeah it pee's people off lol but I'd rather be safe. Better to pull over every now and again to let the queue pass than try and keep up with their speed!! I've seen a caravan spewed all over the M6 and I dont ever want that to be us

Re: Caravan Owners... Please be careful

I am a caravanner albeit relatively new. However we attended a caravanning course - might sound a bit berdy BUT we can manouvre our van ( me included) with the best of them. We also know how to load it correctly, checking nose weight and all that. AND speeding in a caravan is a big no no. Also for all you drivers out there when you do over take a caravan give it a BIG berth. This will derease air pressure hence decreasing swerving the caravan and all that.

good point! I'm hoping it wasn't the navara causing turbulence that made him crash... they must move some air when they're at speed

Re: Caravan Owners... Please be careful

We have a stabilizer to put on, one time hubby forgot to put it on but 4miles down the road he knew something was wrong because the caravan was swaying, so we pulled up and put it on and you could tell the difference straight away.
