Ouch!
So, not a brilliant day today.
I took my TB young horse out today for a hack, as the weather was lovely. Although he was a bit lively, he was a pretty good boy and things were going fine until we on the way home riding around a corner and a group of teenage lads were coming around the same corner in their pimped out car, only at about eighty miles an hour. Poor Razz took one look at the car, heard the thumping music and the squeel of the brakes and freaked out. I just about managed to stop him from bolting by turning him sharply towards the hedge, but he them paniced at being restricted and went vertically upwards, lost his balance and landed on the road. Thankfully, I was thrown clear and he wasn't able to get away as he was winded and shocked by the whole episode. The upshot is that my poor pony and I are both broken. Thankfully the hoss only has superficial grazes but is very stiff and will need some seeing to by our chiropractor (typically, it's taken nine months to get him right and as soon as he is it all goes to pot again) I've broken my arm - the last thing I needed with exams looming, but thankfully it's my non-writing hand! - but am also very sore with attractive bruising and grazes ... I feel I won't be making too many public appearances in the near future. Although, at least I feel I now have a water-tight excuse for not having done my work for my seminar tomorrow!

Re: Ouch!
I actually think him going over was the safest thing that could have happened to him - he's the type of horse that really takes a hold when he gets going at just an ordinary canter, I wouldn't have had a hope in hell in trying to stop him today.
He's bolted with me once before, I'd thought I'd been bolted with previously but I remember sitting there thinking 'Jesus, this is what my friend meant when he told me I'd only ever been run away with before and not bolted' I know I'll be fine, but I'm worried what it's done to him mentally. He's not the bravest horses by any stretch of the imagination - I just hope he'll let me (or rather my trusty jockey friend I'm going to rope into sitting on him for me now I'm out of action) near him with tack again much less try and get on him and take him out.

Re: Ouch!
Bloody annoys me that! Why can't they just slow down? I had an incident with some lads on motorbikes, riding illegally, my horse bolted unstoppably galloping towards a main road, i've never not been able to stop before! Luckily my horse turned into the yard before we hit the road but we were both sweating and shaking uncontrollably afterwards. Idiots!

Re: Ouch!
I was riding along a fairly busy road with my daughter a few weeks ago,a car came past with young lads in it,they slowed down, wound down the window and threw a coke can, with coke in it at my daughter!luckily her pony is totally bombproof and didnt react at all,b***** idiots!!
![]() another time i was out on my young tb mare when a elderly driver came up behind,it was a really narrow road and instead of waiting until i could pull in he squeezed past my foot ran along the side of his car, luckily my mare is also very good,if she had panicked we would have been on top of him!![]()
