i agree, and its my opinion that all riders (and cyclists) should wear high viz tabbards!

Don't tar us all with the same brush, Kay! There are some idiots out there, as these posts have shown, but some of us car drivers who have never ridden do understand about horses and will slow down quite a way behind a horse, turn off the radio, and pass slowly only when it is safe to do so.

Re: Ouch!

My cousin owns a livery yard and obviously its down country lanes, She never takes her horse out on the roads purely because, With living on the yard she sees the speeds the cars come round the corner, They have even had signs up saying 20mph (or 30mph with the loose bricks sign) and that doesnt stop them, shes just lucky she has loads of space to ride in the comfort of her own yard. Its such a shame, i remember as a child going out and there wasnt half the problems there are now. I wonder whats happened? Do you think some road users are just ignorant to the hows and wheres of horse riders, or do you think that some just have the well known attitude of "I own this road"

Re: Ouch!

I agree, when I was younger there didnt seem to be such a problem, probably because kids couldnt afford cars. There are lots of very lovely drivers out there and I always make a point of smiling and thanking them but unfortunately it only takes one moron to cause a serious accident .Hope you both get over it, theres nothing worse than knowing its going to happen and youve got to take the safest option you can.
