We all know smoking and second hand smoke is harmful to humans and the same is true for our pets.

Animals can be affected by smoking in the following ways:

By ingestion of cigarette or cigar butts which contain toxins.
By drinking water that contains cigar or cigarette butts.
By breathing secondhand smoke.
By ingestion of nicotine replacement gum and patches.

Which cause:

Breathing problems and asthmatic like symptoms
Salivation
Diarrhea
Vomiting
Cardiac abnormalities
Respiratory difficulties and respiratory paralysis
Feline lymphoma in cats
Lung and nasal cancer

*** DEATH - 1 cigarettes OR 1/3 cigar can be fatal to some animals if ingested. ***

Dont smoke cos they said it stunted your growth and couldnt afford to be anymore stunted than I am LOL and no-one is allowed to smoke in our house as youngest daughter has a heart problem and both her and I are asthmatic -so you are safe to visit here

i dont smke either but unfortunatly my o/h does smoke but always goes outside because of my chest and my little boys we are both asthmatic aswell. and he has tried giving up even just recently when his stepdad( more like his dad) died of cancer ( he was with him) he said thats it i dont wanna go like that but cant do it

I used to Smoke but I gave it up and its been 16weeks and 6 days haven't looked back, but when I did smoke I smoked outside and anyone that comes to the house smokes outside

In winter i smoke in my utility with the door open and hardly smoke that time of year because i get frozen and im extremely nesh lol, and in summer if im smoking (daft i know, i go through stages) I smoke outside in the garden. I have been known to have a sneaky one by the pc with a cup of tea though *slaps wrist*

*edit* I didnt find it hard to quit whilst pregnant, but i do sympathise also with the people who try and cant. For me its a personal choice that keeps me sane, I have psoriasis caused by stress and i figure that with a 4y/o daughter, a 10week old kitty, lots of bills and job hunting..... if i quit, I can audition for a monster position in star trek! lol Once my psoriasis is controlled ill quit for life, cause to be fair..... It makes me feel sick smoking anyway.

I dont smoke. I know too many people who have died from lung cancer so put me off for life . But I do sympathise with people whotry to give up I imagine it's really hard.
