New computer advice.

Hi all! Im looking to buy a new computer so who best to ask then people who clearly have one!!
Went to load the Sims 3 into mine and was told that my graphics card didnt support it (something to do with pixels?!!). Having thought about it mine is nearly 10yrs old so about time for a replacement.
So any suggestions?
I need one that is good for games (so good graphics, I like Sims type games and have a world of warcraft addiction) also pottering on t'web.
Also preferably can be bought on-line in UK, and be very reasonably priced.
So we are looking for top of the range that costs 10p and a packet of Smarties but Im willing to compromise.

Re: New computer advice.

If you go on the PC World website they have special 'gaming' computers that have better graphic cards and enough memory for games. We bought my son a Packard Bell one for his 18th in January this year because he plays a lot of games on his and his graphics card was struggling in his other computer even though he had replaced it.

Re: New computer advice.

Hope this helps........i bought a new one less than a year ago, went to pc world and bought the second cheapest as i wanted one that i could play games on with no bother and get internet, the cheapest one had a less powerful hard drive so i got the next one up it cost around £330 and it has a flat LCD screen and you can play games on it no problem. they pretty good in my local store , oh and if you thinking of getting a laptop you will have to pay way over the odds for one that can do the same as a normal computer. oh and also on mine i have the ports to put SD cards in and other slots i dont need lol so look out for one of those if you need that. i have a compaq brand that works great, very happy with it infact, good luck!

Re: New computer advice.

ps mine did not come with speakers so you have to get those seperatly if you dont have any suitable as you may find as i did that the speakers i had on my old computer were not compatable with new computer ( the connections were totally different!) and you may as well get the whole package ie keyboard, cpu, screen , mouse altogether as its just as cheap as a new cpu anyway and good to have new up to date peripharals, thats bits and bobs lol.

Re: New computer advice.

I know quite a few people say don't ever go to PC World but we've had around five desk tops and a laptop from them now and not had any real problems, think a fan went on my daughters pc when it was around 3 years old but it was fixed pretty cheaply. The pc I'm on now is around five years old and is used every day for around 15 hours a day and not had a problem with it. Think all our Pc's are Packard Bell too except the laptop which is a Toshiba.
