Have been watching images on the news this weekend about the Seal hunt in Canada, as an animal lover I am disgusted with what I saw but am not sure if it was the cull itself or the methods they seem to be using which sickened me most.

However I guess there are 2 sides to the arguement, so wondering what your views are?

What are the reasons behind the cull?

They will use whatever methods are the quickest I guess. It will look totally appalling to you and I - but then so would want goes on in a slaughter house. (See that on the F Word?!)

They say the cull provides jobs / work / income for many in Canada. The images I saw on the news were nothing short of horrific, they made my blood run cold.mad:

One news reported showed a man hit a baby seal over the head with a large metal pole thingy... and it wasnt dead and fell into the water, she said it would probably suffer in the water for god knows how long. mad:

I had to turn it off. If they have a good reason to cull seals (which i doubt) then they should at least do it in the most humane way possible.
