disheartened with british legal system

I am in the dumps today
Thought writing it all down might help...so am sorry if this is a bit boring, it more 4 my own benifit really
Appart from a funeral today of a very old friend (which I cannot attend as it will confirm he has died..does that make sense?)
I heard earlier in the week of a lady I know from the show world and am friends with we chat dogs n the like,
anyways last year she was involved in a horrific crash which left 1 man dead, her dog had to be destroyed at the scene and she was left in a critical condition for quite a few weeks.
She did survive but it has left her having to learn to walk again and she is pretty much wheelchair bound.
The family of the dead man wrote to her expressing the fact that they held no blame for what happened and hoped she would be able to move on, fat chance its something I know will affect her every day 4 the rest of her life, not to mention losing her beloved dog aswell.
She is a pensioner, it was a very unfortunate accident and yes someone did die,she is in wheelchair and has been sentenced to 2 years in prison.
I just dont get it....
What is the sense in sending her to prison, its not as if it was intended, its not as if she is going to make a habbit of this, she is one of the most kind doggy people I know who will go out of her way to help anyone if she can this just doesnt seem fair.
ok feelings expressed, still down! me thinks its gonna be a carbohydrate hi day today!

Re: disheartened with british legal system

god that really is a shame, how they expect her to deal with prison and being disabled and older i do not know! i expect she will get off earlier with good behaviour but it really makes you wonder what is happening with the world, they are called road traffic accidents for a reason

I suppose you have to think about it, what would you expect if it was a little girl who had died and a 18yr old driver in your friends position? 2 years would be what the people want. As much as its awful because of her situation, they are just applying the same judgement without the emotional side of things.

So sorry to hear about this.

Re: disheartened with british legal system

Took me a couple of goes to understand this!! and YES you are Oh so right the British justice system does stink!!! foul as it happens.

But without knowing the circumstances surrounding the horrific accident I cannot comment as to the fairness in this case.

sending you a hug
regards
DT
