I am only reiterating that I myself, would never knowingly support any product made by P & G. It is MY choice and I try to put information into the public domain so that other people can make their choice. Should you wish to patronise this company despite their stance on animal experimentation, you have every right to do so.

As I have said time and time again, the forum should be a place of friendly debate
I agree Nina

Re: Iams pet food

Exactly Nina,
It is MY Choice to totally disregard anything which has come from unreliable sources such as Peta.
As I said before the links offered are either links to Peta or Uncaged, rather than from reliable independant sources.

I have never defended Iams but there are two sides to every story,I would prefer to make my choice based on Hard facts and evidence, the link you provided in the first post for example,The report, written by the paper's Health Editor Lucy Johnston drew largely on findings by the animal rights organisation Uncaged.

As I said I don't feed Iams, and I have never stated Iams don't test, however you need to look at all the evidence from various sources to get a clear indication of what testing is taking place etc.

So for me,unless there is hard evidence with references to independant companies who have researched the claims I will take it with a pinch of salt.

It's about making an informed choice,we can't make or force someone into taking on others value's.

I would never try and force my opinions or values on other people Sally. We both have strong opinions and from time to time they will surface such as on this thread

The mere fact that any experiments ARE taking place in P & G, is enough to make people boycott their products. It is for your conscience as to what you chose to do.

Yes we do Nina,
But for me I need proof of what is taking place and from various sources,I don't believe everything I see or read.
Testing could quite simply be by feeding certain foods over a period of time.

If people want to boycott that is their choice as long as it is done in the proper manner I don't have a problem.

As for me I shall continue to feed Burns

Sally, i know you said that you don't believe Uncaged and PETA about Iams. So i have personally found another source arguing about the cruelty behind Iams thats come from neither Uncaged nor PETA

IAMS - Pet Food Cruelty Exposed

I know it's a bit outdated, but it's just to prove that it's not just Uncaged and PETA that are against it.

There are quite a few newspaper articles on Iams, but truth be told, I think Sally is as rigid on her beliefs and we are on ours

Re: Iams pet food

Hi
This is getting rather heated in here! I have never liked Iams as I have always thought a dog would get more nutrition from cardboard! But I never knew about the animal testing. My in-laws use it and I have also shuddered when I saw the poor dog get fed but after reading about the animal testing I really want to say something. May I add they are my new in-laws!! So will have to tread carefully and they may not take too kindly to me telling them

Thanks for that link, however again it can be directly related back to uncaged.
This article appeared in the Sunday Express, 27 May 2001.
Exclusive By Lucy Johnston, Health Editor
The report, written by the paper's Health Editor Lucy Johnston drew largely on findings by the animal rights organisation 'Uncaged'.
So do you have any other links that do not go back to Peta or uncaged ?

I could do an article similar if not the same as that one,it talks of cruelty yet doesn't provide us with any evidence of it.

As I said I was looking for links to companies that have actually done research and fully investigated instead of going on tabloid journalism and animal rights extremists.

So do you have any links to companies other than Peta, uncaged and newspapers that have any evidence ?

I know people are against Iams, that was not what I was debating,I was debating that the sources the info is coming from is in my opinion unreliable.

Chesben, I think that this is more friendly disagreement than heated
