Nina I can and do disregard anything PETA say or do same with uncaged,as I have said in a previous post I want independent evidence from reliable sources which do NOT relate to either Peta or Uncaged.I have only seen one and they only made two references to Iams.

Again your link is to peta Nina, can't you come up with anything other than either Peta or uncaged to back up the claims ?

PETA KILL ANIMALS.Sorry they are a bunch of extremists.

So where do you think this footage was taken Sally? As numerous people have said on this thread Iam's themselves do NOT dispute that they test on animals, so I am unsure where you are coming from

Re: Iams pet food

This is the problem, Iams is fairly cheap food to buy especially in this economic climate. So some people will buy it for that reason regardless of animal testing.
P&G only came out and told us about animal testing because they thought it would earn them respect for telling the truth. Unfortunately for them, this caused huge debates and it lost P&G loads of money.

PETA can be extreme at times but sometimes, you need to be extreme to get through to some people, and their methods do work. As for uncaged, i have met 100's of members and supporters during the international animal rights day that took place in several places over the UK. They are very friendly people, not extreme and they prefer peaceful methods to get their points across. The only times i have seen them get a bit rough is during demonstrations against bull fighting.

Thank you for that information Chris I do not know either personally, neither have I had any dealings with the people that work for Peta or Uncaged.

I do think that some people are completely biased against certain organisations such as Peta and the RSPCA, whom I have had dealings with.

Nobody gets it right all of the time, and the RSPCA don't always respond as we would like, but they do a job that most of us would not wish to do, such as witnessing animals who have been subjected to mindless cruelty.

I think that all any of us can do is to try to boycott any company that knowingly participates in animal experiments without cause. I try to keep a clear conscience.

Re: Iams pet food

No Iams have never disputed that they don't test but testing covers a wide range of things does it not ?

And been as you seem to believe what Peta are saying perhaps you would like to take a look at this PETA Kills Animals | PetaKillsAnimals.com
Exclusive: PETA Killed More than 90% of the Animals in its Care in 2007
PETA’s 2007 Euthanasia Records Available Only at PetaKillsAnimals.com
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, a group that complains bitterly when animals die accidentally in horse races or intentionally in slaughterhouses, killed more than 90 percent of the adoptable animals in its care during 2007.
According to government documents, PETA employees have killed more than 19,200 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens since 1998.
And you want me to not disregard them

I have posted this before so I'll repost here,
And this is what Iams are saying,
An animal rights organization is making misleading allegations about feeding studies performed for The Iams Company at an external facility that we left in early 2003. These allegations not only are old, but also are highly sensationalized and laced with untruths.

Here are the facts about Iams:

FACT: Posing as an animal lover, an activist "undercover investigator" was hired for an Iams-funded role in the contract facility. She had responsibility for the socialization and enrichment of the dogs participating in Iams' feeding studies, and was paid to develop and implement a program to ensure that these dogs were well cared for. Rather than focusing on her assignment she captured video not of the scenes of the socialization and enrichment activities she was being paid to develop and deliver, but of dogs and cats that were housed in the same facility but not a part of Iams studies.

FACT: Iams doesn't kill dogs or cats! It's against the animal studies policy that has been in place for years.

FACT: Iams does not authorize the debarking of any dogs.

FACT: Iams has an industry-leading global animal studies policy that ensures the care and welfare of every dog and cat participating in our feeding studies.

FACT: Iams is committed to the ultimate elimination of laboratory feeding studies as scientifically valid alternatives become available -and we are actively using, developing and seeking alternatives!

FACT: Iams takes full responsibility for the destiny of each and every dog and cat participating in our feeding studies, a program established as of July, 2003. Dogs and cats are adopted into loving homes after they stop working with Iams or they retire with Iams.

FACT: Iams is a company full of pet lovers who dedicate their lives to helping dogs and cats live longer, healthier lives. We see this in the more than 30 million pets worldwide who annually thrive on the innovative nutrition of The Iams Company.

Re: Iams pet food

Thanks to uncaged in particular, they have put so much pressure on P&G that P&G themselves are reconsidering animal testing. They have lost so many customers more due to the recent herbal essences campaign, that they now have to reconsider their actions. So if uncaged alone managed that, i applaud them

IAMS may not murder animals now Sallyanne, that practise ceased in 2001, I believe.
BUT do we know how many animals die whilst carrying out their experiments ?

Hi sue,
I honestly can't answer that.

All I'm saying is that the information about Iams that Nina is posting is coming from unreliable sources,i.e Peta and Uncaged and is dated the link on the first page is from 2001.

I don't feed it anyway never have

Re: Iams pet food

Sallyanne you are sometimes very blinkered in your approach to certain companies. You are offering links for us based on Peta actually killing animals rather than saving them and you expect us to believe its contents, yet you have complete disregard for links provided by people to support their argument!

I am only reiterating that I myself, would never knowingly support any product made by P & G. It is MY choice and I try to put information into the public domain so that other people can make their choice. Should you wish to patronise this company despite their stance on animal experimentation, you have every right to do so.

As I have said time and time again, the forum should be a place of friendly debate
