Angry warning - Puppy Farming

Hello everyone,

Just thought I would let you in on a little 'charade' I am involved with at the moment....If I can explain....

I have always wanted a Shih Tzu...even since before we got Meg (and she's 4 now) but my partner said if we have a dog he doesn't want a 'lap rat' (git!) anyway, there I was with my daughter the other night...both bored...we started having a chat about it, and basically my partner has agreed that I can have one (HUGE GRIN!!).

We have no intention of getting one right now (really), maybe next year...but...we started to have a look online at prices...clubs...pictures...adverts etc etc etc

I spotted one in UK Classified...

BLONDIE...Beautiful Shih Tzu, KC Registered, reared at home, lovely temperament, parents can be seen, has had lovely puppies, two boys, three girls - boys brown/white - girls black/white. Birmingham - Price 0.00
Please telephone ............

Just out of curiosity, and getting carried away with my thoughts... I got my partner to call them up (secretly thinking I could talk my OH into it) I was curious..VERY curious...lol

Anyway my OH gets on the phone and speaks to this bloke...very strongly accented, who gave us very little detail, (apart from price £200!) but an email address to speak to him and ask questions. (hmmm)

When my OH gets off the phone, he says to me, there is something not right about this, one they are too cheap, and two he won't give much detail. (hmmm)

Anyway...me having real faith in humans <sigh> sends an email to this bloke asking for all details...where are you based in Birmingham? did we get the price right? Are the pups KC Registered? Vet Checked? Can we see both parents? etc etc etc

Suprise suprise...email was sent back undelivered...wrong addy (hmmm)

Me STILL having faith in humans...and secretly thinking my OH had written it down wrong (MEN!) Goes back to the original advert and emails him through that...

Here's my reply...

hi, nice reading from you.we re very grateful and happy that you have interest in our puppy.we have a female and she is 10weeks old.she will cost you £250.if you are o.k with that then get back to us.waiting to read from you. Thank You.

OK..now I am too thinking (hmmm) still I have faith in humans...maybe his english is not good...maybe he didn't unstand the questions...(secretly thinking...oh please let him not be a puppy farmer...please!)...

So...I email again...

Hi, thankyou for responding so quickly. My questions...Where in Birmingham are you based, what is the correct price, can we see both parents, are they KC registered? When can we come and see them?
Thank you

Here's the reply...

hi nice reading from you.we are glad you wrote to us.we are located in Dublin ireland and it can only be possible for us to ship the puppy to your door step.if you can afford £200 then we will give it to you at
that price.waiting to read from you. Thank You.

Oh My God! he's a puppy farmer! Yes, call me thick! Yes, call me naive...NOW I'm angry...but I'm also wondering just how far this bloke will go...

PLEASE BEAR IN MIND THAT I HAVE ABSOLUTLY NO INTENTION OF BUYING A PUPPY FROM THIS MAN!!

So......I write another...

Hi,
Oh Ireland? Why are you advertising in a UK based paper and is there a reason for you selling the pups this way? I was wondering if you could answer my previous questions...and also how would you expect payment...where can I pick the puppy up from?
Thank you

Here's the reply....

Hi, Glad reading from you again. The main reason why we are giving our puppies out is because we are international breeders and we would not be able to show much love to them, because we always travel from one country to another. We can get this puppy delivered to your door step,it is not going to cost you much.To get the puppy delivered to your door step is going to cost you £80 which you are going to pay to the delivery agency. Please we will like toilet you know that our main concern is to make sure that you
have the puppy safely and when you receive the puppy you are going to pay the rest of the money to us.Waiting to read from you. Thank You.

(hmmm) yer right!

OK...I'm like a dog with a bone now...nd also bloody heartbroken thinking about these poor pups and the poor mother who is undoubtably pushing these pups out at a terrible rate. I want to rescue them all!

So I send another email...

Hi I'm sorry, I cant afford to pay £280 pound. I wanted to pay £200 all in. Its far too much money for me a I am on my own. Is the girl KC Registered and Vet checked and will she have her papers with her when you deliver?

Thank you

I'm waiting to hear back...it's going to be more crap I have no doubt. I'm so sad thinking of them and would love to do something about it. I have looked through all the ad's in the paper (web based) and there are so many similar...language is the same...ads are more or less the same wording...pictures are obviously from the net and not real...just emails addresses rather than phone numbers...all over the UK, but with the names of places spelt wrong, Essex is Assex...Bolton is Boulton, etc etc

There was also one ad on there from a girl who had put a warning on about someone advertising...here's her advert...

Description:
WARNING FAKES ON HERE

BE WARNED THERE IS PEOPLE ON HERE TRYING TO SELL A PUP CALLED TINY TESS, SAYING SHE IS 2LBS 1 OZ, THE SO CALLED OWNER ALSO HAS HER ON FREEADS.CO.UK AND SHE IS CALLING THE DOG LORA ITS THE SAME PIC ON BOTH ADS ON BOTH SITES

JUST BE AWARE OF THESE PEOPLE DO NOT BE FOOLED

It's so bloody sad!!!!

Re: warning - Puppy Farming

Yeah, I have experience with scammers like this. They dont have any puppies at all, im sure they have other adverts for cars, boats etc....All over the internet including ebay.

They ask you to send the money via Western Union or something similar and then when you do they will ship the pet, car, boat to you.

The thing is, when you dont receive the puppy and reply to them they wont answer. You cant get your money back and the police cant do anything to help. For some reason Western Union cannot be traced back to the person. I have no idea why!!!

Also dont know how many people would actually want to buy a pet they they havent seen, or expect it to be deliverd!!??? But I know a few who have been conned this way

thats why there only £200 a pup ,as thats more easy to swollow then lets say £600 , more people would risk £200 than they would £600 if you know what i mean ! IE: they got more chance of hooking you in at £200!
