Why do threads get closed

Dose anyone no why threads get closed, it might be a dumb question is it if it gets a bit nasty

Usually to put the flames out & give the mods a chance to catch up with what is going on.
Heated debates can & do spill out onto other parts of a forum, closing each thread helps to prevent further aggro...

i'm sure a mod will be on in a mo to put you right...

thankyou that is exactly why I dont think you appreciate how fast things move along at times and it is impossible to keep up the threads will be sorted read through and then re-instated
