Exclamation Importance of Descriptive Thread Titles

Hi All,

Just a quick thread to let everyone know the importance of descriptive thread titles. Having a descriptive thread title not only lets other others on the forum understand what your thread is about, but it also lets other people searching the internet easily find your thread and reply to it if they wish.

As an example, there was a user who created a thread this afternoon entitled "Bergamasco Coat Development", with half an hour of creating this thread, the thread page was indexed in google and now if you search for the term "Bergamasco Coat Development", without the quotes in google, you will see that it ranks number 1. Therefore, anyone searching in google for information on this topic will find the pet forums website.

This is also applicable too, when your posting a question and need help, if you posted a thread entitled "Help!!", its not very descriptive and only members on our forum would find your question. If you created the thread with a more descriptive title, i.e. "My Labrador dog has a sore paw". Not only would our members be able to know what your thread is about and answer it, but also thousands of people searching on the internet via google would be able to find your thread and answer you question quickly.

So, descriptive thread titles help all our members get their threads replied to more quickly, plus it helps the forum become more and more popular which benefits us all. So please, from now on, can everyone try to use good descriptive thread titles.

Many Thanks for your help
Mark

Re: Importance of Descriptive Thread Titles

I was googling something to do with dogs barking as my dog is a 'barker' and thats how I found these forums. I hope any threads I've started have had descriptive titles. It's a really good forum and although I've been around animals for 99% of my life I've still learnt things from here, keep up the brill forum

Re: Importance of Descriptive Thread Titles

How can I change the title of a thread I've already made? I've just realised why no one's replied to it, The title is a bit flip, but the point I'm trying to make is very serious.
