Question Not being able to give rep

Often, when I want to give someone some rep for a good, informative or supportive post, I get the little message that says I have to spread it around a bit before I can give this person more rep. Now I sort of understand why - I guess it's because otherwise friends would just keep on giving each other rep and the system would end up being meaningless. However, quite a few members on here consistently post replies that deserve rep, but the system won't let me give them any, and it doesn't seem fair. Is there any way in which this can be altered?

Re: Not being able to give rep

I have the same problem, quite a lot of people make really good posts on a regular basis but to give them any rep I have to give out meaningless reputation, obviously when this happens I give it to people I like for pretty much nothing, so it's a bit counter productive really, we're still just giving it to friends so we can eventually give it to the people that really deserve it. Well I am anyway!

Re: Not being able to give rep

I had the same thing lastnight. There are a few people on here who post good info near enough everytime they make a post! I tried to give them good rep and it wouldn't let me. I suppose the only way I would get around that is to do what ajshep1984 said above.

Re: Not being able to give rep

Hi Everyone,

Ive changed the user reputation spread setting from 15 down to 5. This means you have to give 5 different users reputation before you can hit the same person again.

Does this sound reasonable to people? Its better than 15. I dont want to set it too low, as reputation will lose its meaning.

Thanks
Mark
