That would be agood idea, as I know from experience that mods do get a hard time sometimes from users which can cause problems. People often dont like being told what to do, and when someone becomes a mod they can easily loose friends on the forum.

I can't really comment about something I know nothing about, I was referring to moving the forum forward and the best way to deal with incidents in future and who should be responsible to deal with it. Sue |

Re: PetForums Update
I disagree. Mods are also there to help. If someone needs some help, a thread closing, a post removing and so on, they can PM a mod and ask them to do it for them. If they were annonomous, then no-one would know who to talk to or ask.

I'm assuming whoever is a Mod would have a different username to the one they already have, which would enable them to continue using the forums as a Member - but enable them to log in under a different 'Handle' to moderate and sort problems where needed. ![]() |

Mods should have 2 accounts... their mod account and a "normal" account. If they choose to, they can keep their mod account anonymous and not let on to people that it's their account. But obviously we will need to know the usernames of mod/admin accounts so we know who to contact when we need help. I was a mod on another site before. When I was just a "normal" (I hate that word) user I made alot of friends, but as soon as I was made a mod... I started to get talked about and people got the right hump and started causing trouble. So sometimes people can give mods a hard time (I did say sometimes ).

If you had that, you should also have a member for Super-Mods and Admins too. But great idea nonetheless. But Mark, if you're gonna be looking for mods, I'd use this. It's been used on hundreds of other forums, and it's always worked. (At least from what I've seen it has!): Makes a thread. Writes a template for members to fill in and post. Eg; Why you want to be a mod: Past mod experience: etc. It would make it a ton easier. ![]()
