Pet Friendly Rentals

Please Help, I'm moving with my dog to the u.k. because my husband has recieved a job offer. I am having such a hard time finding rentals that are pet friendly. In the states we just give a bigger deposit and thats it not a problem. If anyone can help with advice, agencies or ways to go about finding a pet friendly rental by Jan I would be forever thankful. Sofia has lived in apt.s her whole life and is used to being walked in parks and being around people I work from home so I'm with her none stop. Well any tips would be wonderful for me and my best gal Thx. Sherri

Re: Pet Friendly Rentals

All you can do is find out the local agencys around that do rental property and tell them you have a dog they should be able to have some on there list that allow pets we are renting and had to pay a extra 100 pounds for cleaning of carpets when we finally move out. We also have a cat and 2 guinea pigs so landlords are happy to have pets. Only other idear is place a add for area your after and max rent you can the go view if any come up. Just make sure your deposit is covered. And your dogs written in your contract. Good luck.

Re: Pet Friendly Rentals

Hi Sherri,

Here are some links that might help.

Advice from Dogs Trust on convincing a landlord to allow dogs:
www.letswithpets.org.uk

Searching on 'pet friendly hackney' gave me this one:
http://www.propertyfinder.com/cgi-bi...o&id=505425820

Here's a link to "dogs allowed" properties in London:
http://www.oodle.co.uk/housing/rent/...lnd:london/+0/

http://www.globrix.com/property/rent...keyword_field=
Then in the left hand column under 'Keywords', select 'Pets allowed'.
You can save your search so you get emailed when a new property is added.

Two big property portals used by agents:
www.rightmove.co.uk
www.primelocation.com

Classified listings:
www.vivastreet.co.uk
www.gumtree.com

Also search on:
flat london well-behaved pets
rent london well-behaved pets
rental london well-behaved pets
(etc)

Enjoy your time in the UK! I moved here from the US 22 years ago and liked it so much I'm still here!

Re: Pet Friendly Rentals

The best thing to do would be phone the estate agents and ask them if they have landlords they know will allow pets. Our house was advertised as 'no pets' but when we asked they agreed to let us get a puppy.

Re: Pet Friendly Rentals

It is a shame that the UK does not have the amount of pet friendly properties that the US have. We are after all a nation of animal lovers.

You will find that more landlords are opening their doors to pets, this is due to the over whelming amount of properties to rent at present.

The surgested sites above are great.

But have you also looked at the Tips area of Pet Friendly Rentals - Tips

Have you done a google search for 'pet friendly letting agents' you may just be surprised what comes up.

You may find it a little difficult to find a property that allows dogs that does not have a garden. Try ground floor apartments rather than 1st floor.
