Fleas

Hi
I need help. I have 4 cats and have been using frontline every month for years. Now they all got fleas and I am not sure what to buy as I assumed frontline would be enough. They don't have flea collers as I lost a cat once as she got caught up with the collar in a tree and died. So I am very weary to use collars as they are all outdoor cats.
Thanks

Re: Fleas

Frontline should be working, maybe change the brand to advantage or something for a while, and are you worming the cats ? gotta do both.

Re: Fleas

A couple of things here. I am a dog walker and mostly deal with dogs, but fleas live on all animals. I used to use comfortis which was great because its a tablet that they eat. These have a better likelihood or reaching the whole cat than something dropped on their neck.

I recently bought advantage mainly because it was a reasonable (sort of) price. You will see that each brand tends to have its proprietary active ingredient and there will be little info on which one of these are best. But lately I have been hearing a bit about homeopaths using garlic on dogs to stop fleas. The trick with this is that large doses poison dogs as its part of the onion family.

I recommend keep researching and asking questions and helping us once you find a good solution.

Except frontline there are variety of medicated sprays are available to kill fleas. The safest way to treat a cat for fleas is to bathe your cat using warm water and after the bath, go over the cat with a flea comb. You can also use vet's suggested flea spray for controlling them. You should choose best product that provide long-lasting effects.

Re: Fleas

I usually alternate my flea prevention by using an application of frontline and then when the next dosage is needed, i use advocate.... works fine for my pet anyway

Kinda think its like most things, fleas gets used to one product so it becomes less effective.
