update function on subscribed threads?

i'm a bit puzzled, and i have not seen any mention of this -
the update function has been consistently inconsistent for about 5-days.
subscribed-threads that i just posted to, are bolded - which normally they would not be; it's superfluous,
i'm not going to rush over only to read my own messages,

OTOH real updates to subscribed threads are often not showing at all; they stay normal text, and unless i click "show ALL Subscriptions" they are invisible.
was there a recent software update? is there a glitch?
