How much Gravel?

Just wondering what is the correct amount of gravel needed in an aquarium. The guy in P@H told me an 8kg bag would be enough anf Ive just put it in but was wondering if I need more as the booklet which has come with the tank says it needs to be at least 2 inches high. At the moment everything is completly covered and looks good and is about 1.5 cm deep at the front and 3cm deep at the back as the booklet also said to make it deeper at the back?

Re: How much Gravel?

I would think that would be a fine amount remember to pour the first part of water onto a saucer, and then gently on top of the gravel, so as not to misplace it all!

Re: How much Gravel?

If you are having live plants its better if the gravel around the m is deeper so the roots can grow into it. But all I do is scrape some gravel over from somewhere that doesn't have a plant.

You will prob spent a while moving stuff about once its filled, I always do!

Can't wait to see pics I am waiting for some wood to make a hood for my 4ft tank, and need to buy a heater and some more plants. I love the setting up part almost as much as putting the fish in!
