Thumbs up My tank is now set up!

My dad came round this morning and set my tank up for me, he has kept tropicals and cold water for years so thought it be best he did it.

It looks lovely, unfortunately I can't get a pic yet as I have lent my camera out but as soon as I get it, I will put one up.

It has 3 plants in it and a nice little cave (perfect for Neons, which is what I have decided on with a few Corys, is that ok for 30 litres?) It also has a little otter ornament led in the sand!

Really sorry I can't get a pic!

The thermometer is saying it is at 24 at the mo, should the tank feel warm or not cos it doesn't really.

Re: My tank is now set up!

Will be next weekend when I can get pics but the man in the shop said he will test my water for me in 5 days, I have bought some fluid that is supposed to get rid of ammonia, put it in every 2 days for a week, then I will take a water sample to the shop.

Gonna get LOADS of Neons!

Re: My tank is now set up!

Hmm, you might get away with 10 neons. But only buy 5 to start off with. Nothing else. If you add too many fish at once they will die.

The water won't feel 'warm' to you but it won't feel cold either. It should be at about 25/26 degrees.

Re: My tank is now set up!

Hi, I have noticed the tank is slightly warmer as it has been running a day now, it is on 24 at the mo.

I was also wondering about other fish I could add, my dad suggested a bronze catfish, he said they are small so would 2 be ok with some Neons? I also spotted Dwarf Gourami's, they are cute.

Would 2 Dwarf Gouramis, 2 dwarf catfish and about 6 Neons work or is that too much?

Re: My tank is now set up!

I'm all confused!

I am a bit nervous of this ammonia thing, how much is it and where do I get it?

I bought this stuff to reduce the ammonia now I feel like I have been ripped off, I know what you mean, it is all money to them, I have seen the prices of the medications there.

So what do you recommend? I am not in any rush to get fish if it means I am doing them harm.
