Unhappy I need help with my two goldfish

I got a new goldfish recently but he died last night and wasnt' in the same tank as the other two goldfish, he was in a hospital tank. Anyway the other two are sick, both of them. Dasher's symptoms are just fast gill movement and Comet has fast gill movement, abnormal swimming, loss of balance and loss of appetite. Both their dorsal fins are down which has me very worried. Now they are both just lying on the bottom of the tank.
Danielle.

Re: I need help with my two goldfish

Hi

Sorry to hear your fish aren't doing too well. If you could answer a couple of questions first it will help us to identify the problem.

How big is the tank and how long has it been set up?
Did you cycle the tank with a source of ammonia before adding the fish?
Do you have any test results for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate?
Do you know what variety of goldfish they are?

Sorry for the interrogation, but it really will help!

the tank is a 40 gallon tank.
I cycled the tank with source of ammonia befre adding fish.
Nitrate levels are good, no ammonia. Can't remember what the exact reading was though.
The tank has been running since October when I had the fantail goldfish but they died in one go.
The fish are Comet goldfish.
