yeah just wondering really ..when i worked in the petshop i used to say to peopl not to have there lights on for more than 8 hrs...

But had a disgusing with a guy ina pet shop he said only 4 hrs max.....i know a lot of things have changed since i was in petshop 15 years ago..but didnt think that was one of threm...

Excess light can cause stress and can also cause algae problems. Also if you leave the light on 24/7 the plants will photosynthesize constantly, this will cause them to strip the water of any CO2. Eventually the plants will starve themselves and die.

Generally speaking a photoperiod of around 6-7 hours is enough.

i think 8 hours is ok... because look at Pet shops..i worked in one and we had them on from 9.00 untill 5.30..and they seem ok..

i think if you just put them on at night really you will be fine....
