My main concern with Angelfish is the size of the tetras. Small tetras can fall victim to predation by larger Angelfish, so this needs to be evaluated first. However, since most Angelfish you'll find in aquatic stores are quite small the whole predation issue shouldn't be too much of a problem, especially so since the Tetras are there in the first place.
If you want a bit of colour and don't mind waiting for a few months, a small group of Rainbowfish would be ideal. Many species do take a while to show their true colours for which they're renowned for, however with a varied diet and good water quality they should colour up fairly quickly. In a 6ft tank you could try anything from Boesmanis to Red Rainbows, the latter of which I recommend keeping in groups with a female to male ratio of at least 3:1.

I like Rainbowfish but when I asked at the shop the fellow in there said they were"nt a community fish,he has got some fish called scats in there and said they"d be OK but I thought they had to have brackish water
