Re: Id this fish

Looks a little like a red devil, but i dont think it is.

You shouldnt mix it with what fish you have. You shouldnt even be mixing goldfish with tropicals.

How big is your tank?

Re: Id this fish

I think it's a Midas Cichlid, also know as the red devil, they can vary in colour.

Re: Id this fish

It's a Flowehorn, a hybrid between the Three-spot or Trimac cichlid (Amphilophus trimaculatum) and the Midas cichlid (Amphilophus citrinellus). This specimen seems to be lacking a Nuchal lump.

It could also have a small amount of Vieja in it as well.

I agree, a flowerhorn, or flowerhorn cross. These fish are monsters when fully grown, and are known for their aggressive behaivour. I have two 10 inchers, who actually get along though
he really should not be living with your fish... i can see goldies and barbs in the background.

Re: Id this fish

I have an immature red devil.. And he he quite possibly an adult... Mine is only 3-4 " but we can't mix him with anything but groundfeeders and plecs... Or they will be his dinner...
Here is a pic..
Its Rocky Barboa aptly named due to its personality..

I did think that lol..

I do have a friend who has a small tank.. She has tropics in Guppies etc tetra's and some big gold fish.. I imagine the goldfish got so big due to the water temp..lol I nearly died when I seen it.. she pays the tank no attention and its been going for a few years now..lol

I reckon he could swallow my ground feeders..lol Luckily I think they survive with Rocky in my tank cause they are so quick and have plenty of hiding places..
