So long as the fish are kept in an adequately-sized aquarium with a cycled filter and suitable water conditions then they can thrive just as well as they would in the wild.
definately very well said

Re: Our fish

right on!

the demands for some of the rare and endangered fish as a result of the fish keeping industry has actually saved them than cuase their numbers to dwindle down further.

The only issue is when a certain type of fish becomes overly popular, thus it is bred too much causing little biodiversity.

Re: Our fish

I have to agree, that take it really small. You could probably find a cheap upgrade on craigslist or even a thrift store. Something that will do until the pond is done. If one of your fish has already died then that should be a sign.

I don't mean to sound mean. Its just that fish really need room. Alot of people don't realize that. 10 gallon per fish is the smallest I'd recommend. Of course it depends on types of fish and what not, but still.

I hope that pond gets done soon!
