off the top of my head it sounds like mites. However I would also check that there not rubbing against anything like tubes and the hairs stuck on that. I'm afraid a trip to a good ferret savvy vet is your best bet, the can then take a skin scraping and have a look under a microscope.

Re: bald belly ideas???

each pet can react differently. A friend of mine moved into a flat that had fleas, 1 of her cats went bald all over its stomach and bright red he became quite stressed, the other 2 were completely fine. She was treating them all with a good vet prescription spot on as well as spraying the rooms, he had some steroid injections and that made him much better, I dont know if these are suitable for ferrets or if this would apply to his circumstances

Re: bald belly ideas???

he could be just moulting some do moult in weird ways if his skin looks blue dont panic its the new hair coming in, many ferret owners panic when they see that for the 1st time. Hope all goes well at the vet

Re: bald belly ideas???

if the vet doesn't come back with anything get some spray ferret vitamins and spay some of it on their food and in their water, it helps them grow the hair back. as someone else said it could just be where they're malting a couple of mine get bald patches when they malt and i just give them some vits and within a week their hair has grown back fine.

Does it look like this? Sounds exactly what my hob Flloyd had last year - it's "over moulting", there's not explanation for it but the vet said its totally harmless....and very funny to look at!
