Re: Ferret lovers!
Hi Alys
What makes ferrets good pets??
They are lively, cheeky, ALWAYS up to mischeif, love to interact with people and are so cute! They act like perpetual kittens, and love to play with toys. People often stick them in the same catagory as hamsters/guinea pigs etc but they are much more like cats and dogs. They need lots of attention but return this a million times in laughs!
Are they child friendly?
Ferrets are naturally nippy animals. They like to use their mouths - not nastily, just like a puppy. If they are not trained when young not to bite, they are not suitable for kids. However, if they are trained correctly, and the children and mature, sensible children who won't push or squeeze them, there is no reason why ferrets and children can't have a wonderful relationship.
What are your ferrets names?
Tia, Mijbil, Edal and Teko
What are there characteristics?
Tia is a polecat coloured jill, aged 5. She is my baby, I love her to pieces. She is very sweet and cuddly, but hates other ferrets. She tends to nip faces as her old owner didn't train her well, but she has improved so much in the last couple of years and she is a sweetheart.
Mijbil, Edal and Teko all live together and are all rescues, aged 2.5 yrs. Mij is a dark sandy jill, she is very feisty and free-spirited, loves to play and can be very rough. She is tiny but definately the boss!
Edal is an albino jill, she is playful, and like to take herself off with some feathers or a ball and play alone. She is very adventurous and loves to climb.
Teko is a silver hob, he is huge and getting quite cuddly now he is getting used to being handled. He is greedy, loves food and likes to steal toys and hide them.
Do any of you race them ?
I have never had the chance to race mine, but would love to have a go. We have been to a ferret show before.
