South Wales Animal Pet Rescue Centre outisde Swansea - Urgent Appeal

I'm working with the South Wales Animal Rescue Centre down here in Swansea and they are overloaded with dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets and many other pets desperate for adoption.

Their current website is at South Wales Animal Rescue. Re-homing abandoned rabbits and other pets.

A new site will take it's place shortly which I'm donating.

There is a real risk of these animals never being rehomed as they are a small family non-profit operation relying only on their own donations and that of adopters. As a result of the credit crunch, less people are adopting and so they're severely losing out. If they continue in the red, they may have no real option with the animals.

If you're in South Wales and want to adopt, please do get in touch with Caz on 01269 822611 or Caroline on 01639 776 206

If you would like to make a donation please call those numbers or you can do so through the website.

They also have horses, reptiles amongst others. There are no paid staff, all money is spent on vet bills, food and necessary equipment. All staff are volunteers so I can vouch for their organisation.

If you're looking for a pet dog, cat, rabbit, and you're in the South Wales, Swansea, Cardiff areas. Contact them!

TRPD have got a new supply of their extreamly popular and much needed 'I NEED A HOME' trim. They use this to make collars, leads and harnesses for rescue dogs and dogs in foster. It has proven to be a HUGE help in rehoming dogs, people notice the collars and ask about the dogs.

Prices are stupidly cheap, and anyone who wants to spare a few of your hard earned penny's on a gift that really will just keep on giving and giving and giving, please pm me. OR register on the site and get involved in the long running auction thread where you might even pick up a bargain or 2 of your own pampered pooch. ;) trpdpetcraftproject - Auction Club Events - for Members Only

Prices start from just £5 for a collar, that includes p&p to the rescue of your choice.

Trudy, Pedigree Lakeland, 9 years old

Trudy, Pedigree Lakeland, 9 years old

Her Story: Trudy was rescued as a young dog and lived with a poodle. Her owners have returned to England from France. Unfortunately Trudy got out of their new property and grabbed a cat. Tragic, but in the heat of the moment many terriers would ... she had to be rehomed due to pressure from neighbours.

Salient Points: Lively 9 year old who has fluent dog skills and has mixed with children, babies upwards, without incidence all her life. Not for cats or small furries. On one tablet a day to keeps a occasional fit prompted by stress at bay.

Advert: Trudy is a pedigree Lakeland who is on the larger size. She is good natured and engaging in her relationships with family and friends. She has lived with a male poodle and always been around very young children and has been exemplary. She is spayed, vax'd, has a pet passport and is chipped. She moved into rented accommodation which had low fencing and within 2 days she had jumped over the fence and caught a neighbour's cat. They are so distressed, her family have been forced to rehome her: a tragic outcome.

Trudy is a beauty and has a full history, She has lived in France for a long time. She was with the family when at home, but placed in an outside run when they went out. She accepted this well as she has kennelling. Carefully tendered and dearly loved, Trudy finds herself in kennels and we are sure she will soon find her new forever home in the very near future.

"Please note that this dog is currently in kennels and is also available for foster until a 'forever' home is found".

Shadow, Patterdale Terrier, 4 years old

His Story: Shadow was found stray and never claimed. He is held by another rescue and comes to us this week (mid Nov). He has been fostered in with other dogs whilst seeking a rescue place. He comes into kennels once we can set up transport.

Salient Points: Shadow is approx 4 years old and was neutered early November. Mixed in a multi-dog household. Living with an 8 yr old child successfully and is well mannered. Not for cats, 'toy sized'dogs, small furries or feathers as will chase. Retained on extender lead and requires terrier proof garden.

Advert: Shadow is a fluent Patterdale who has shown he copes well living in a multi-dog household with dog experienced people. He initially 'marked' but since shown housetraining. He understands basic commands, walks well on a lead though 'keen' and is well mannered with food and children. He will chase cats and care should be extended around 'toy' dogs and small furries and livestock as his chase and prey instinct are conversant with the working type terrier breed.

Shadow has a wire coat with locks of curls and the classic boxed face. Here is a quote from his current fosterer .. "Very soft mouth, will take treat very gently. Great in the car. Not seen any aggression. Very playful with same sized and bigger dogs, likes to rough and tumble, not good for smaller dogs as he will chase. Definitely not chicken or cat friendly when tested. Nice calm dog in the house, lovely temperment. Not interested in toys, will choose to sleep on a hard surface as well as soft bed." We can only offer Shadow a 'winter kennel' .. can you offer him a foster place or forever home?

"Please note that this dog is currently in kennels and is also available for foster until a 'forever' home is found".

Sadly due to unforeseen circumstances one of my pups now has to find himself a new home.

He is currently un-nueterd but will be as his current owners have offered to pay for it so when he comes to me, I will be having him nuteterd before going off to his new home.

He's almost a year old and is a very loving boy who has grown up with a baby and kids and is very respectful towards them.

He is all animal friendly and gets on well with both Dogs, Cats and small animals and wants to play with them, although he should be watched with small animals as he does want to play with them and may accidental harm them.

He is house trained but does not like to be left as he's used to going to work with his owner, although his current owner feels he will be fine to be left if with another dog.

He's also trustworthy offlead and does come back but as most dogs this sometimes changes when playing with another dog. He can walk on lead but sometimes pulls when he gets excited.

His name is Buster and he's a Springer x Malamute. I do ask that anybody interested in him have dog experience and have researched both breeds. I would prefer if you were in Devon/Cornwall but this is not a must. His current owners are very upset to have to part with him and say he's a wonderfull boy and has been a real pleasure to own and hopes his new owners will feel the same.

If you are interested/want to know more please contact me.

Thank you

Hello, we have been looking for a while now as our wheaten cross bitch passed aged 14. We have a 14yr old male rescue, been with us for 10 years. He is a gsd x lad mix. He's active and very, very gentle. We would like to offer a home to another older dog, as Rigsby misses doggie company a lot.

We would like something over 9yrs old and possibly springer or staffie size. We are thinking another bitch would be best and would love to offer a home to one of the poor staffies that seem to be filling up the rescues/private adverts. Unfortunately, the ones we come across are either too young/not good with other dogs/or so far away that dragging Rigsby there several times for introductions would be difficult. We tried one rescue and on the second introduction Rigsby got bullied and nipped.

We do look on the 3 staffie rescue sites. We are in Devizes, Wiltshire and willing to travel up to 40 miles/pass homechecks/make a donation to dog charity or donation on your behalf to doggie charity if its a private homing.

Thanks for reading.

Fingers and paws crossed for replies,

Max, Bob and Rigsby
