Ive had my tank set up for almost a year and after a few loses I found that Mollys are doing the best, we have black, white and dalmation. As you probably know these are live bearers and we've had lots of babys but they only seam to grow to 1/2 inch then dissapear, assumed dead and eaten... Is there anything I can do to help my lil fry?

Hello everyone!
I have experience of taking care of dogs, cats, rabbits etc, but now I'm thinking of taking a fish for a pet. I know that it's not very hard to take a care of them, but can someone give me some basic advises? I'm considering to take two goldfishes. Also, I study in another country and I want to go home for the holidays for 3 weeks, and my question is: can the fishes take the trip of 13 hours?
Thanks!

Ive had 4 platys in my tank now for 5 weeks now. They seem to be fine. Recently in the last few days Ive noticed one of them keeps hiding in a small cave but usually I can see its little eyes staring out which is how I know its in there. Today I cant seem to find it anywhere. Im sure it must be in the cave perhaps really deep init. I dont want to disturb the case incase of scaring it. It has to be in there as it is no where else in the tank!

Any ideas why it keeps hiding away in the cave all the time? It does eat as normal.

My tank is 65L and I only have the 4 platys at the moment... 2 red and 2 blue!

I currently have a Red Eyed Tetra, A Male and female Platy, (the only survivors)

Everything else we seem to buy drops dead, a few of our female guppies died, and shortly after we noticed little baby guppies in the tank, which seem to be thriving.

What could be causing any new additions to die? We have already used some Water Treatment that our local aquariam recomended as a just in case.

We are getting tierd of buying fish just for them to drop like wildfire and die.
I will Get the water tested as soon as i can!!!
Our tank is planted with live plants that also seem to be absolutley thriving (and growing pretty well)

Any Advice would be greatly appreciated

I have a few queastions:
Do I need to heat the water in some way as witrh other tropical fish? or will it be warm enough in a home environment?
I have got water conditioning drops and dried bloodworms for food. Do I need other drops? Or any other kind of food?

Hey PetForums members,
I have three male bettas - Zaar, Ozzy and Walter. They are kept in a 10 (?) gallon tank with dividers, obviously. They can see each other clearly, but only occasionally flare. Zaar is dark blue with red fins. Walter is light blue with a few red stripes. Ozzy is intensely red throughout his whole body.
I've had them for about three months, and nothing strange happened - they were eating normally, behaving normally throughout water changes etc.
I noticed about a week and a half ago, when Zaar was on the right side, Ozzy in the middle, and Walter on the left, that Zaar was making a rather impressive bubble nest. At first, I wondered if he was marking his territory, but now I have dismissed that idea. I think now that he thinks that Ozzy and Walter are female bettas. I researched it further, and found out that when a male betta makes a bubble nest, it is sign that he wants to breed. I panicked then, because I don't have the money, time or resources to start breeding yet. I tried changing a couple of things, like moving Walter into the middle, which resulted in Zaar stopping his bubble nest, but starting again in 3 days. I started changing the water more often, and then less often, without any noticeable changes. I was wondering what to do now. I was thinking of breeding bettas, but I think it would be the most expensive option.
Please comment on what you think would be the right thing to do.
Cheers,
Finn

i have been advised that my 55G tank needs to be treated for septicemia. It was only discovered by me this morning--my 2 lavender gouramis have it and need medicine. Upon closer inspection, i am inclined to say that some of my other gouramis are in the early stages as well. The lavendar gouramis (most evident) show a bloody color in the beginning of his side fins (where your armpit would be if you were a fish.) I am treating with pimafix but i don't know if it will be effective as the pet store did not have marison-2. I don't know how this happened or how i can avoid devestation--any help would be highly appreciated!

Hi all,
I have a small 36l tank and a 125l tank for my tropical fish. At the moment the small one is only being used for the babies from my big platys and all my other fish are in the big tank. 5 of the fish I have were given to me by my friend when their fish had babies. One of them has grown bigger than the rest and he follows one of the female fish around all the time and if any of the others come near her he chases them away - why is this? Is he being protective over her or acting as a bully? I have attached some pictures of him and also of my algae eater - can anyone tell me what type he is or their name? Thanks in advance.

Hello all,
I was just wondering whether anyone could advise me on something. I am now on my 4th batch of babies - the first batch only consisted of 2 which I spotted in my tank one day - they are now in the big tank, the 2nd batch was only 4 babies all of which have got their colours now, the third batch consisted of around 25ish and yesterday morning my female platy gave me my 4th batch which is around 27ish. I was wondering how big the babies need to be before they can go into the main tank - at the moment the 2nd, 3rd and 4th batches are in breeding tanks floating on the top of the main tanks.
How big do they need to be before they can go into the main tank without having problems such as being too small and getting sucked into or stuck to the filter.

Any help is much appreciated. xx
