About Three weeks ago a pipe burst in our bathroom, and the toilet and hallway downstairs was flooded. (The toilet is above the hallway)
There was a leak dripping down into the frontroom from the floorboards upstairs.
I didn't want to risk my computer in a room where water was seeping into, so I relocated to the kitchen.

Two weeks after relocating, our budgie, started to make funny noises. (It was like a 'whoop' sound)
We were trying to work out how she 'learnt' this noise.
So, we were think of everything that made a whooping noise, but she would have heard any of these things before.
I decided to play a cd which had a track on it with Whooping... it wasn't that either.
I came on this website and started to play MahJong. Everytime I selected tiles, which made this 'whoop' sound our budgie responded to it.

I've only wrote this because my pets surprise me everyday.

Has anyone else got a bird that has surprised them or can do any tricks. Feel free to tell.

(Just one question, has anyone ever known a budgie to draw blood after a nip. Only, our budgie 'nipped' me on the nose, and it took ages to stop bleeding.)

Hi everyone,

I would just like you all to meet Charlie my new African Grey Parrot. He is about 10 years old and absolutely gorgeous. My stepmum brought him for my dad when he was a baby so he has grown up with us. His whole life he has been an indoor bird, loves the company etc...until last year when my stepmum put him in an outdoor aviary. Now it has come to this very cold weather my dad has wanted to bring him indoor and my stepmum is refusing!!! She says he'll be fine outside but apparently the other night he was sat out there shaking and yelping and my dad was worried he was going to die. And still she is refusing to let him in the house.

So my dad has turned to me and asked me to take him in or they will have to get rid of him because he is so worried. So I have changed the bottom floor of my house around and we brought him to his new home today and he has settled in very well - already whistling and chatting away! :)

Hope you all love him as much as I do

Hi All,

I am new to this site.... and in need of some advice.

My friend has some Zebbies (3 pairs) and he has found the Zebbies are not building their nest in the nest box provided? However two nests have been built on the branches he has put in the aviary... The nests look well constructed. The last pair are trying to build one on the floor!!! Is it the right time of year for this activity?

Is this common practice?

In one nest my friend has noticed 1 egg in one nest… Bird are not even a year old (we were told by the seller)! And considering the time of the year… Not sure if the chicks would be OK. Should we let nature let run its course or intervene?

What should we do?

Can you recommend some good breeding websites to get some info?

Many thanks for reading my post and for any help you can offer 

Hi

Different birds eat different foods, which is why putting out a variety of foodstuffs will attract a wider range of species. Typical foods include:

* Peanuts – good traditional food, best loved by the tit family but also taken by starlings, sparrows and greenfinches
* Sunflower seeds – especially loved by greenfinches
* Mealworms/ waxworms – not for the squeamish, live food is increasingly popular, good in the breeding season for robins, wrens, thrushes and many more
* Nyjer/Niger Seeds – especially loved by goldfinches
* Fat cake – tits, blackcap
* Table seed (mixed corn/wheat/pinhead oats) – collared dove

Keep sharing and reading

Thanks
