I said in another post that I am going to go ahead and get Pickle's new run made now instead of the new year. Since I can go inside the new run I can go in and groom her and hopefully she will exercise more since it will all be enclosed and have wee areas to jump on.

Anyway - I decided to give my current run and hutch away. I posted on gumtree. No sooner had I posted the ad and I got a reply. A very needy woman and 2 rabbits. She has the two of them in a single tier 4 foot hutch that is apparently falling apart!! I am sure they don't get out to run about either. So I have offered her my run and hutch. Her wee bunnies will be so much happier out of that hutch. My hutch alone is not big enough for two bunnies - but with the run and considering what they are living in now - any-thing's better. So I am so very glad I posted it on there for free.

I had Pickle's at the vet on Wednesday. She's put on a lot of weight - too much. My mum overfed her while I was in hospital for those three months. The vet told me to gradually wean her off her greens and give her hay and grass only until she loses weight. Thing is that I don't have any grass at my house. There is a nature walk up the road where I guess I could get grass from daily.
Can anyone else give me advice? Does that mean no treats at all? Should I still give her her dried excel nuggets. If I can - I will get the low sugar ones and gradually get her onto that.
She's not grooming herself. I need to do it for her and with her current run - I can rarely catch her. So I have decided to get her new run constructed asap. Maybe nexgt week. I emailed the guy who quoted me today regarding it. I can go inside the new run and sit with her and groom her there. Poor wee pet. Hopefully she will run about and jump up onto the other level in the new run and get more exercise.

I had said last week that I was going to try and get a volunteer job with the only animal sanctuary in N.Ireland with rabbits. Well, I went to it today. It's called assisi. I start next week!!!!!! I think they were quite shocked that I said I wanted to do anything from clean dog kennels to wash cat litter trays to clean out rabbit hutches. I am so excited about starting there. There are some lovely bunnies there at the minute. I am sure that once I start and get to know the staff - that they will be happy for me to take a rabbit home. I am going to wait until the new year when i have the new bunny home built until I ask about getting Pickle's a friend. They do the bonding.

I just spent £60 on eBay buying a waterproof jacket and trousers to wear there. The center is a good distance from the bus stop and I have to get two buses to get there. Won't be bad in the summer - but on days like today it will be tough. I plan of working there three days a week.
