Some of you know I went to a funeral and it went well apart from I was the first one crying as I cried even before we entered the church and I had a choking fit. I'm sat in the dark now as the light has gone. At the cemetary I had to drop a flower in and read something out stood near the grave. What I read out was titled in loveing memory of Flo O connor and it went.

Your memory is a keepsake for which we will never part.
God has you in his keeping.
We have you in our hearts.
A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove he only takes the best.
You leave us with beautiful memories,
Your love and strength our guide, and although we cannot see you, you are always at our side.
Goodnight god bless Flo.

Hi,
I have been thinking about starting my dog walking business. At the moment I walk 3 dogs a day and do this 4 times a week. The owners (all friends) seem very pleased with my service and so thought I may manage a few more so I am thinking I could branch out and offer my services to more folk as there doesn't seem to be anyone else in the area prepared to do this.

What are others experience of this kind of thing and how much do you expect to pay? Obviously I clear up the mess afterwards as well.

I cannot afford to pay anyone to do it so was thinking of learning to do it myself. Can anyone reccommend how? Books, courses etc and how hard it is.
I only really need to know how to update information on the website. I don't want to have to get involved with my ex again if I can help it!

Hi all, have just joined the site as we recently bought an 18mths old Cairn Terrier. We have had a few problems with a nasty smell more noticeable first thing in the morning. We had him vet checked and his anal glands were emptied and sure enough this was the same smell. He has recently occasionally bit at his back end and tonight for the first time in 12 weeks I caught him dragging his bottom along the floor. If it continues I will be returning to the vets but could anyone please tell me how often these glands can/should be emptied? He is wormed etc and in otherwise good health, not overweight and a fit and happy little dog. Many thanks for any advice.

My collie is 12 years old and the other evening i was watching tv (Bavarian Bongo or similar) and suddenly my collie started to go across the living room as if he was riding a very small motorbike. He had his back legs in the air and was going round the room on his bottom. At first i thought he had managed to sit on my nephews roller skates but i could see he was just on his backside. He looked as if he was enjoying it and by the end of the programme he had gathered quite a speed and broken his previous lap time !

What is up with him ? Is he okay ? Should i take him to a vet or a race circuit ?
Thanks.

Has anyone heard of this or had any experience?
Bella was abandoned with her litter mates so I haven't a clue what breed mixes she is, but as most 'mutt' owners would understand I am always wondering what breeds she is made up of, it would certainly be very interesting...

We have a 4 year old collie X and he has alot of energy in him at times. We started doing agility but gets really stressed out with other dogs and it is not really fair to keep him going with it, so we are now going to hire out the arena at our club every couple of weeks so we can have a relaxed session. We have started clicker training and he seems to love it and gets really excited by it. But I want to start doing more with him which he will enjoy and wont get stressed out with. He has had such a hard time in the past and I dont want to make it any worse for him. Any ideas of what we could do ?

We bumped into him again today. The first time there was no confrontation, he brought three greyhounds, one of them quite young into one of our favourite parks and let them off leash.

The young one and Shadow have taken quite a shine to each other and they start to chase each other around the park harmlessly taking it in turns to run. It's rare to see as usually Shadow either sniffs and leaves or gets mounted by the other dog, has a quick scuffle (no teeth) and then comes on my call.

Our first encounter, the owner threw a tennis ball in our direction. Shadow went straight into chase mode and ignoring my calls grabbed it. On his return, one of the larger greyhounds then attacked him and took the ball back. Shadow came running towards me with no ball but some blood from a bite on his neck.

Dogs will be dogs, and we had to leave the park to give them space as his ball throwing over our heads kept Shadow interested. I hoped Shadow would become a little more weary.

Today, they came in again, no ball this time but the two puppies started chasing each other. The owner and the two larger dogs headed for the woods, the puppy in tow, and Shadow came back to play fetch. His pup then broke away and came running towards us, Shadow ran off and they started their game of chase again. They got close to the other dogs twice, and both times, that same dog attacked Shadow. I was calling Shadow, the other pups owner was calling his. Neither were responding.

As they approached him the third time, the guy shouted at me saying that if mine keeps chasing him, the bigger dog will protect her puppy.

I appreciate Shadow's recall isn't as good as it could be, and his pup's is likewise, but why make out that it's my fault his aggressive dog keeps attacking mine?

I was more concerned for Shadow than to retort but people like that make me angry. We're both as bad as each other with the little ones but to blame his other dog's aggression on me is enough to ruin an entire day!

If you're out there greyhound owner, I hate you! I'm working so hard to make sure Shadow is docile and doesn't stick up for himself after an issue between him and my wife the other week that it's almost tempting to bring this back out.

Well I did want all of Serafina's kittens (who wouldn't ) I still do.. but realisticly I'm not sure it's really the smartest of ideas. :o.

So I after a lot of thought I have settled on a compromise and that is I will keep one. As Leviticus is the only boy I thought (very human of me ;)) that it would be nice to have another boy in the house. So Gatsby is staying :D. Believe me I've spent the past two days umming and arring over who I should keep but now I have decided Gatsby I won't let myself change my mind!!

I think itd be nice to keep one of her kittens and it would be impossible to let them all go.

So looks like I have a job to do. Got to find a homes for three kittens (but not for a while yet) :)

I guess it is a bit of a relief to remember they do say its harder for the carer for the pet than it is for the pet when they have to move on. arh -sigh-

I was in the pet shop today going to go and pick up the usual delicious james wellbeloved kibble. HOwever I stopped at a bag of applaws dry kitten.

 It had all the ingrediants of James Wellbeloved just about bar the cereal/maize and it had more meat content too!! So I had to bring that one home.

Well why didn't I try it sooner?!? Every one gobbled it up very happily and quickly. Even Nefertiti  and thats saying some thing !!! If Madam likes it it must be good.

So I would say to all those thinking of using dry cat food Applaws is very very nice indeed
