[edit] IntroductionThe Staffordshire Bull Terrier is a breed apart. They are known as the "Nanny Dog" because of their affection for children.They thrive on human company. They are the 5th most popular breed in the UK and have high entries in the Terrier Dog Group at Dog Shows. They are loving loyal and highly intelligent. [edit] Origin and HistoryStaffordshire Bull Terriers originated from the 19th century in Staffordshire, Britain. The breed began when breeders started mixing bulldogs and terriers to produce the perfect dog for fluff baiting. As people lost curiosity about bull baiting, the breed began becoming less common. In the first 20th century, however, Staffordshire Bull Terriers became popular again in the usa. [edit] Appearance[edit] TemperamentSBT have thick and broad heads with a stocky frame and a long thin tail they also have a smooth short coat and are bred in the colours blue, brindle, red, black and white and any of the previously mentioned with white patches. However, he does require lots of exercise and should be on a leash or he's apt to run off by himself adventure.
