Re receipts - it depends on how you are collecting payment. If cash from the client's home I would leave a written receipt when you take the money - if people are paying direct into the bank, then that in itself gives both of you a record so I would tend to ask for this type of payment.

Keeping your privacy settings such than non-Facebook members can not see your content does nothing to promote your business. You need to be accessible.

Spelling is important, typing iv might be very streetwise and trendy but it does nothing to project a professional image nor does it help search engines find your content.

> iv ordered some 500 business cards from vista,
Suitable for people you meet while out walking but C5/A5 or A4 posters might be better for supermarket walls, vet waiting rooms and the local pet shops.

Consider offering a "discount" if they quote a reference number on the poster, use that to monitor where your successful referrals come from. The discount can be theoretical.

> what sort of receipt?
A numbered one to tie up with your company records.

Re: questions about my dog walking service please

Hi,

I bought a simple receipt book and my customers leave me cash and I leave a receipt for them so I have a copy and so do they, this seems to work well

It's definately worth having a website that comes up on google when the prespective client types in dog walking in their area taht is how my client found me.

Re: questions about my dog walking service please

i think i have sorted the facebook out

i agree i should not use terms such as ( iv )not very good

i am planning on posting the cards in our local village and close areas,

discounts i have offered to donate 10% of all my earnings to a struggling local dog rescue.

i will get a receipt book today

i will have a word with a friend of mine regarding a website,

Re: questions about my dog walking service please

my clients pay by cash or internet. if its a one off pet sit, I would have to give some sort of receipt for cash, but so far I have not needed one.

Basically if they trust your company, your police check and for you to with their dog, they should trust that you have accepted payment. whats the worst that can happen? They have their dog and you don't have money? As long as you are organised and dont ask for money again after its been paid, then things should be fine.

You could also try advertising on Gumtree. I think it is free to advertise.

Re: questions about my dog walking service please

In terms of giving receipts, it's a question of giving a professional image. There are so many dogwalking businesses now that you really do need to stand out from the rest if you are going to be successful. We all need to show that we are a professional business sector rather than just something that anyone can do in a half-hearted way. Also in terms of your record keeping, just taking cash with no receipt may look as though you're avoiding tax etc. I wouldn't cut corners just for the cost of a simple receipt book and the minute or so it will take you to fill in.

I'm confused. If she hasn't paid, why are you giving her a receipt? And how are you going to prove she hasn't paid if she has a receipt that says she has?
