I think you should let the breeder know, any good breeder will be able to offer help and advise or offer to take the dog back.

Re: Help!!!!

hi.

firstly i think you should no that there is nothing wrong with your dog. hes just acting like a dog. without actually seeing these behaviours it is ahrd to know exactly what is going on. it seems to me from that email you recieved that you sent your dog to the wrong place. no dog can be that bad and at the age of two I cant believe anyone decent would want you to give up on him.

i think the best thing to do would be to find a good behaviourist in your local area who will give you advice and work with you for as long as necessary. make sure before you agree to anything that the methods are all possitive and reward based. Any punishments whether its ignoring them, shaking bottles of pebbles, shouting, lead jerking etc will only make your problems worse.

what area are you in and ill see if i can recomend someone

Cassie

Re: Help!!!!

Iv found a few behaviourists and sent them via private message. I really hope they can help. Iv never met any of these but I know people belonging to the same organisations and their methods are fantastic. Id love to come and help you myself but its a bit far away for me. I have emailed several proffesionals who are "high up" in the dog world. They know a loads of people and I know all their methods are safe, modern and positive. I know they have delt with a lot worse. Im afraid i think you have had a bit of bad luck with the type of help you have been given and hopefully it will be sorted soon. try contacting all the behaviourists you can and make sure they use possitive, reward based methods and never use any from of punishment. some one who does not talk about similarities between dogs and wolves would also be great as they are so not similar it is unreal. its remarkable the type of things people come up with. Hope things work out for you and let me know if you get things sorted.

Re: Help!!!!

Hi I really think you tried to do your best with this boy and clearly you have tried hard (not given up on him so dont feel guilty!)

I have a feeling your boy would be alot happier if he went with this policeman, maybe its just his personality?? We all have different personalities and to me it seems your dog was meant to be a working dog, he obviously hasnt adjusted to a homely life and thats not your fault but its something thats in him.

He wouldnt do these things if it wasnt in him to do. He needs a firm hand and direction and I think this could be what makes him!

Sorry, I know alot of people are trying to help you keep him but on the other hand you have tried many things already and its getting quite frustrating (i can imagine!).

Having said that, take your time to think things over and dont make a hasty decision. Im not pushing you to give him up I just wanted you to look at another option thats all.

Good Luck with whatever you choose!

Smile Re: Help!!!!

Thank you Kittykat I apprecitate everybody's help on here, you've all been so supportive!

**An update**
One of the police force's dog trainers came out this evening, from Staffordshire....and Zeus made a very good Impression, he talked through what happens, he'll be picked up on the 31st July, and given 4 days to settle in, get to know his handler etc, then he'll start his assessment on the Tuesday 5th August.....He will do the assessment on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday....then the decision will be made....They will ring me either way, (we will be on holiday then too) if he passes we then have to sign a form, passing him over to the police, if not, he will come home, and we'll have to sort out for definate a behaviourist.

When the Dog trainer left, Zeus tried too run out after him , so the chap must have made a good impression and viceversa.

I just want too thank you all for your support, and sorry if it seems we've given up on Zeus, but to be honest, he'd thrive as a working dog....Will keep posting on the forums anyway, and will have to do a picture post before he goes
