Chewing
We are looking for some advice on how to rid our 15month old rottweiler of her chewing problem.
She has always had an issue with chewing everything and we have managed to stop her damaging the house and our stuff by crate training her. Mia is very happy in the crate with Naz our Irish Staffy. But if we cannot keep our eye on her she is into everything so it means she gets shut away. She does enjoy her space but there is just no room for the crate to go in our house. We have managed so far because the house was being completely renevated and we could just leave it in the middle of the room. We would love to be able to trust her alone but we just dont want everything ruined. ![]() I know the crate is working fine but would love to prevent the urge to chew rather than just restrain her from doing it! cheers ![]()

Re: Chewing
i was told years ago that a spray called bitta apple is suppose to work...it didnt work on my sistas eng bully but it worked on my m8s dog.
u could even try kongs and fill them wiv somethin tasty....give it to ur rotty if its on the move looking for sommink to chew or if u go out...i got mine one of them balls they roll around and filled them wiv complete..kept them occupied for hours it did...even wen it emptied they kept rolling it expecting treats to fall out lol. so really all i suggest is toys that will keep her occupied...mainly food filling sorts ![]() |

Re: Chewing
Introducing a sturdy and interesting new toy can sometimes break bad behavior of chewing on inapropriate objects.
Some of these toys recommended are "Kong" type toys , or "Bite a Bone". Never give an animal an item made of anything that you don not want him or her to chew on.

Re: Chewing
know that feeling . i have a 2 yr old ridgeback ... and a chewy 11 week old rottweiler girl. just managed to stop her chewing. if you go to pets at home there is a spray apple sour chew spray, or shaws chew deterrent. is smells nasty and if you are unlucky like me and get it on your hands or in your mouth. it taste nasty too. but it works. no more chewing.
