ok i dont even know when it started, but he doesn't bite anyone at home, and if we're in a busy area hes not bothered about jumping up at anyone or trying to bite ppl either. only when we take him for a walk might he occassionally try to jump up at someone and bite them, always depends on the person though. now hes about 16 months old. but i don't know how to solve it, i would rather train him out of it then putting a muzzle on him or anything. like i say most the time hes fine its only when we're walking might he try this.
any advice?
i dont want to have to walk him on the lead for the rest of his life either

Hi - I just wanted to let you know that I'm having a similar problem with my new dog, Gracie (she's a collie cross). I'm not sure if she's trying to bite or not, but she jumps up on her lead and barks at people when I take her out. Like your dog, she's fine at home.

This is all new to me, so I can't offer advice, but other people on this forum are very knowledgeable. We've arranged for a behaviourist to come and visit us and Gracie - have you thought about seeing a professional about your dog?

Can you tell us a bit about his body language? Is it a happy 'OMG, people!' jumping up or is it aggressive? Is he biting forcefully (leaving punctures or bruises) or is it more 'grabbing'?

(Is it the dog in your icon? Border Collie?)

Have you had or do you have any sort of dog training classes with him?
