Re: puppy help needed please

Difficult to say without seeing them, as what you think is bullying might actually be playing. Can you describe the behaviour? How is it instigated? What is each dog doing? What noises (if any) are they making? What do they do at other times when the 'bullying' is not going on?

The one thing you will need to watch out for, even if they are playing is the smaller pup getting hurt, or beingtoo active, which might contribute to hip dysplacia in later life.

Re: puppy help needed please

I'd slip a lead and collar on her and try and discourage her from doing it when you can supervise them, with such a vast difference in size as he grows older I would nip it in the bud sooner rather than later.

Hope this helps

Re: puppy help needed please

Are you sure she is not just playing and he isnt quite used to it yet ?
I have daxies and they do this when they are playing with my Newfoundland but they are definatly not bullying her.
our 5 month old Standard wire dachshund also does this with a friends 7 month old german shepherd pup and again they are just playing as they share a bed together when they stop playing

Re: puppy help needed please

I would never advocate keeping them apart, since you will been compounding the problem.

I would however, suggest supervision until they achieve some sense of harmony. A bitch and a dog is a great combination, and usually the bitch will remain dominant

Great choice of dog by the way. I have owned GSD's for 25 years and they are the best (but then I am biased )

she seems to have calmed down now, she does have the odd growl at him but she seems to have quietened down a lot and she doesnt nip anymore.
