Aaaaarrrrgggghhhhh!!!!

Took my Beagle on her normal walk off the lead in the local park. Just coming to the end of the walk, she dissappeared into an ajoining garden then couldn't find her way out. Obviously the scent was a very nice one. Her recall has never been 100% but we are constantly working on it (openly praising and with liver cake).
Shes 14 months old and normally OK. She can be a bit of a pickle and push her limits.

Do you use a training lead (about 15m long)?

These give the dog a bit of freedom but you are still in control when you need to be. Great for recall training too

I did when I first got her and introdued recall training. What we do now is call her regularly (in the house and out on the walk) and treat her and give her fuss when she comes back. Its just in this last week or so she has got very stubborn.

Re: Aaaaarrrrgggghhhhh!!!!

She's a beagle so recall is more than likely to be difficult they are known for having problems off lead. Some are exceptions but I would really advice keeping a training lead on at the least. Also anywhere you know there's something that could cause a distraction like the area is littered or popular for cats then i'd keep a hold of the lead, i'm very cautious of where I let Maya off.
