Anti barking collars

Hi all,

I was wondering what kind of experiences people have had with anti barking collars?

My dog will often bark when she goes out in the garden and because she is away from me its hard to do anything to stop it straight away. I was thinking of getting one of those collars that sprays under the dogs nose when it barks.

Are they any good?

Thanks

Re: Anti barking collars

No, and I wouldn't use one. If you don't want her to bark in the garden, make sure you supervise her. If she barks, she instantly has to come back in. Keep her in for a minute or so, and let her back out again. If she barks again, get her back in, etc etc. She will soon learn that barking in the garden means she can't stay out there, and will learn some self control.

You could also teach her the 'speak' and 'quiet' commands.

Re: Anti barking collars

I have used a collar and found them really good. Only reason I started using one was out at work during the day and my dog dog would bark at anything/anybody. It seems to have worked as he dont bark non stop

Re: Anti barking collars

people i know have used the spray collars and have worked for them.
one dog did nothing but bark bark bark, she put this collar on and within mins it stopped.
know she dont need to use it at all, his quiet and if he does bark its only a couple of barks not over and over again driving everyone mad and the neighbors

Re: Anti barking collars

Thanks for the replies.

I think I might save up for one.

Apart from when the postman comes to the door, the main time my dog barks is if she goes out in the garden and the neighbour on the left hand side is in his garden....she goes crazy! Shes fine with the neighbour on the other side but thats probably cos she has had more contact with him.

We did introduce her to the neighbour that she barks at but it doesnt seem to have helped.
