Re: Help With My Border Collie

Do you have another new dog in your home?? if you have he may be scenting his terratory. May be he is holding it in longer than he should do and cant make it to the door, have you tried to let him go out to relieve himself a couple more times a day? If it have only just started within the last 2 days it maybe because of fireworks going of and dont want to go outside.?????? If he was just weeing then I would of said it may be a urine infection of some sort, but doing both then im not sure. Try putting him out more often and if it persists then I would have a word with the vet incase there is something else going on, xx

Smile Re: Help With My Border Collie

we just recently about 6 months ago got another border collie female, as we want to breed from her and have one litter from her.. they are very close, they sleep together, and are inseperable...so yeah i was wondering if the change in behaviour was due to getting this other dog...

You got a female border collie to breed from her? I hope you had other, better, reasons as well! Like wanting her for herself, not as a breeding commodity. The rescue centres are heaving with unwanted border collies, you'd better have some very good reasons for producing more of them. Imagine what your house will be like with 6 or more puppies weeing and pooing all over the place.

Re: Help With My Border Collie

he sound like he prolly marking up his terrioty with having a young bitch in the house , please before you breed from her make sure you get her hips x rayed , has she been tested for Gloucoma and PRA ,CEA/CL and has she been tested for TNS , are you using your boy to her if so he will need the same tests done ,also when your puppies come along they will need hearing tests done and eye tests done at 6 weeks old , and yes six puppies do produce a lot of pee and poo my present 3 week old litter are doing a wonderful job of peeing and pooing all over

Great news.

Before you do, go and visit a rescue centre and look at all the dogs who need homes. If you can live with producing yet another litter, then go for it.

Speechless!

Re: Help With My Border Collie

Now now.

I'm sure the OP did a lot of research on lines, and selected the very very best bitch to complement her prospective stud's lines. I'm sure she didn't just get a bitch willy-nilly.

I'm also sure that she plans to have all the relevant health checks, has read up extensively on breeding, and is prepared for everything that may go wrong. I'm sure she is prepared, in the worst case scenario, to lose all the puppies, and/or the dam.

I'm sure she realises that as the breeder she is responsible for the future puppies FOR LIFE, and will insist on the puppies coming back to her if for any reason their owners don't want them.

I'm sure the only reason she is breeding is to improve the breed.

Re: Help With My Border Collie

We got her because we love her and we were told that they make better dogs if you let them have one litter of pups, so we are going to let her have one litter and then have her spayed, she plays a big part in our lives, and im like you i do not believe in using dogs as breeding machines, she is part of the family as is barney my other collie,i love dogs and if i could afford it i would have a house full of collies, lol. but you can rest assure she is not going to be used as a breeding machine.. im an animal lover not a money maker...but thank you for your concern,

Im not going let her have a litter until she is at least 2yrs old so we have plenty of time to research more and prepare... i will even have the pups vaccinated, wormed and looked over by a vet before they leave us....im not a money maker and will not use my darling stella as a breeding machine.
