Help. My puppy is distroying my house!! (sorry its long)

Ok so we wait for 9 weeks for my mother in laws dog to give birth ( planned Pregnancy) we eventually meet our little Maizy (Boarder Terrier) 11 weeks later we bring her home and shes a perfect little angel. Only took 2 weeks to house break her and she learns soooo fast with general training.
Now she's nearly 6 months old and driving us mad. From being 14 weeks old she has : dug 2 holes in the kitchen wall - one of wich lead to a main electricity cable! ripped the wall paper off the walls in the kitchen. eaten the kitchen cupboards, chewed the electric cable to the freezer. Raided the fridge, eaten the living room curtains, and had a go at the play station! We have scolded her, put her outside and even managed to egnor her and not give her any attention after being caught. Nothing seems to stop her. She isnt left alone for long periods of time. in face I cut my hours at work to make sure of it. We have an 11 year old boarder collie as well so she is never alone! My husband is borrowing a crate from a friend but I'm worried about putting her in at this late stage.
Any advice would be greatly accepted! tanks x

A dog is never too old to crate train.

As long as you do it properly!

Gradually and don't just throw her in and shut the door!

Have a search for crate training there are loads of tips on here

Main rules- do it slowly, and never ever open the door if she is noisy!

Not only will the crate save ur stuff from being chewed, but it will also keep ur pup safe from chewing something dangerous, just make sure you do it gradually like poisongirl says

Could never have suvived without the crate. Previous dogs (labs i must admit!!) have been a nightmare with chewing. One chewed my mothers brand new unworn shoes, another wrecked a door and its frame. One had (now that i look back on reflection) separation anxiety and used to pee and pooh all over the flat the minute we left him. With this dog we used a crate and have never had and damage in the house. A godsend And she loves her crate and quite often takes herself of into it for a bit peace and quiet!!

I second this post!! My boy was awful when young, could keep him away from most things but I have started to crate train him at 14 months old (is a retriever) and he is doing great, I definitely reccomment it for keeping pup and your belongings safe

If shes learnt a lot maybe you need to keep the training up to keep her active, Ive started taking things Finn does for granted and lapsed on training for a few weeks and you can see the difference in michief making

Re: Help. My puppy is distroying my house!! (sorry its long)

I second and third all those posts about needing a crate. Our first dog was fairly destructive and crates werent that widespread then. She did it when she was left.

We now have a 10 week old pup and he has a crate and its definitely the way forward when you leave them unattended. I dont work so dont go out to many places where the pup ccant come, but if, for instance, Im reading a bedtime story to one of the kids, he goes in the crate. If Im on the school run, he goes in the crate. As soon as he comes out of the crate he is taken into the garden and always relieves himself.

Try and get one on freecycle or ebay. I got mine given to me.

Re: Help. My puppy is distroying my house!! (sorry its long)

Thank you everyone for your advice. I am on the lookout for one of those hexagonal play pens for her then I can gradially give her more room as she gets better. I work part time in a school only 1 and a half days and Im home or lunch but I would feel guilty leaving her in a cage while I'm there. especially as my older dog will have the run of the house! One of those play pens will be ideal coz her mum going to have one more litter next year and we plan to pup her when shes older so it will come in handy for the litters aswell. thank you again.

If you cant find a dog playpen you can use a baby one. I successfully used the baby dan one for a while but hedley could fit through certain gaps so I had to weave cardboard through the railings. The baby dan is useful as it is a room divider too.
