Re: do you ever feel your going backwards in training sometimes!
think sometimes the same rule applies to kids mum always lays down the law and dad does the fun stuff.
in the long run it is you that will gain the most respect from her tho, must be very frustrating!! |

Re: do you ever feel your going backwards in training sometimes!
I really would sit down with hubby and outline the importance of consistancy! you both need to be training her the same way or you will end up with problems! Have you tried crating her to help with the distruction?? Not only will it save ur floors but it will keep her safe from chewing something potentially dangerous
![]() My OH really enjoys walking Darwin so I used this to get his help, He wasn't re-inforcing the "heel" with Darwin so I told him either he does or he doesn't get to walk him! Simple! Find something that will work the same way with hubby ![]() |

Re: do you ever feel your going backwards in training sometimes!
Oh try not to worry I have felt like this quite frequently!
I was always the one telling Roo off and making him do things properly and so if I called him to play and someone else did, he always went to them over me, it was like he saw me as meanie Mum ![]() I have to say though, tables have reversed now! If I've gone out for the night he sits at the front door and stays up til I get home, but he doesn't for anyone else! He always whines in the morning for me and things too, he realises I'm nice now! Tell your OH to remember that as your pup grows into a dog, she may be very well trained, but not be obedient for him if he's not careful! This is the way its gone with Roo, he wont do anything my brothers ask of him unless they have food for him! They go around saying he is poorly trained, but Roo is superbly trained, they just don't realise that for a dog to be obedient, it has to respect you to an extent ![]() Roo also ate two chunks out of our kitchen wall when he was young, and a skirting board. With the skirting board I put pepper on it as he hated it, someone also said Vick's vapour rub works too. Might be worth looking into a crate for pup's safety for now, then she can be out of it when you can trust her a bit more.
