Re: I know its only been one day but...

my boyfriend and i were emailing a couple of different breeders to see if they still had any male puppies available and i spoke to two ladies who both had male puppies. I said to one lady at the weekend that we would not be able to see any puppies at all until tuesday today as my boyfriend was busy at work. This particular lady said that i was risking it because they might have all gone by tuesday and she would email me if she still had any available. We contacted the other lady who lived much closer and she had some male pups still available today so we went, fell in love with our puppy and bought him.
When i got home today i had had a really nasty email from the other lady saying why hadnt i contacted her about going today and all this nasty stuff! i couldnt believe it!
We never said we would definately go and she hadnt contacted me all weekend. Im really annoyed about it.

There are some awful breeders about,
You definatly need to do your homework,I would always recommend going through the breed clubs.

My pups are 5 weeks old and now on 4 feeds a day they will be on that until about 12 weeks when they come down to 3 feeds a day and then 6 months 2 meals a day and onto 1 at a year old

Yeah i think going by what u guys have all suggested and what i've seen in a couple of books i'll give him 4 feeds.
Do you think i should just go straight to four feeds tomorrow? even though he's been used to 2 up until now.

Try him on 3 and then up it over the next few days his poor little tummy may not be able to take the 4 feeds straight away - what food is he on???

Re: I know its only been one day but...

well i bought some james belloved, i think thats the name, sachets for puppies because i liked the idea of it being hypoallergenic, no additives etc......when we picked the puppy up today his owners have been feeding them tinned puppy food from asda and they said he is used to that. I was thinking maybe of phasing him into a different food.

OMG it just gets worse is he not on any sort of complete meal - just wet food is no good for him whatsoever mine have a complete meal 4 times a day and they have no tinned meat unless they are having a finicky day - what they have been giving him is of no benefit to a growing pup at all. I hate to ask this but did the parents have the necessary health tests?

Re: I know its only been one day but...

Yes and the owners own both the parents. We saw them also and they are both beautfiul dogs particularly the father. I just think that maybe the owners were going for a cheaper dog food because they have four dogs and then all the puppies too.
What would u recommend then? We bought some dry puppy food ourselves, eukanuba and also the sachets.
Would they be ok?
