Need help with 3 problems!

Ok i have 2 labrador dogs one bitch who is nearly 14 months old and a boy who is nearly 6 months old. Both are pedigree and had all thair jabs and both got micro chips in.

1. My bitch who is called Honey had a season on her 1st birthday she did not go any where near any males apart from Shadow my dog. Now she had got a little enlargement of her teats and she is very very cliny to me, also she is always licking her bits. More than normal, could she be having a phantom pregnancy? why would she be so clingy to me? Also she is not eating as much as she used to be, but she aint a big eater any way. She only weighs 50lb.

2. Shadow well what can i say im starting to dislike this boy of mine, he will go outside and wee and poo then come inside and stay with me and then wee and poo inside the house right in front of me. He has also been on my bed once and weed on there so i dont allow him or Honey on my bed now. Why is he doing this inside the house? Also he has destroyed my garden i have had plant pots all over my garden and he has put soil every where. The thing is i have a lovely garden for where i have put some of mum and dads ashes and i have put a little tree there how can i stop him from pulling this up. If he did this this would be the last straw and he would have to be sold. Please help.

3. Can you also tell me why my 2 dogs eat thier and each others poo. they will watch for when one is going to poo and then stand at the back of them and wait for it to pop out of thier bum and eat it as its coming out. then if they dont see it they will search the garden for other poo and eat that. I have put thier food down to 1 meal a day as shadow was pooing so much. Im disabled and cant bend down to pick it up so my son does it for me but when he is at school (he is in 6th form) he cant pick it up. Thier breath stinks of poo and i dont like it that they then lick your hands. im constanlty washing my hands because of that. Why do they eat poo? do they get some thing out of it? i have tryed putting pineapple in it and they love it more.

Can some one please help me?

Re: Need help with 3 problems!

Am not going to comment other then to say you really need to get your girl checked over by a vet to confirm whether she is in pup or not! Sincerely hope that she is not - but there could be an health problem that needs attention. Also a phantom is possible - but this would normally coincide with when a litter would be due!

14 months imo is way too young!

Re: Need help with 3 problems!

Um... I'm not sure what to suggest my girl is nearly 4 months and an absolute horror at the moment, so I expect your boy is similar.
Would it be worth penning of the area where your mum and dads ashes are?
as for the poo eating they are probably missing out on nutrients if you've dropped their food down to 1 meal a day which in my opinion is ridiclous as your boy is only 6mths old!!!! I haven't even dropped the 3rd meal out of my girls diet yet.Poo eating is a puppy thing, but eats her own sometimes and I asked a vet nurse on friday about it.
Dog's poo. fact. and by not feeding them there are probably a little hypo because they're hungry? I could be wrong of course

oh and get your girl checked by the vet.

Thank you! Yes i know my bitch is way too young which is why i was waiting for her 2nd season. But i did not think a 4month old puppy could get my bitch pregnant. If any thing she would be 6 weeks pregnant but she is not swelling out and does not look pregnant.

Thank you for your time to respond.

Thank you for your reply. well yes i could but it would not look the same as i have got all colored stones down and its about 8 foot by 4 foot. im trying to get the garden up together, as its 90 x 50 foot long and wide. im only a single parent so it is getting the money up together to do it.

I have been told by different people to swap thier food, give 1 meal a day, give it in the morning so they poo out all thier poo in the day. Spoke to the vet and they said he will grow out of eating his poo but his breath smells yuk!!! Even the vet nurse said to feed once a day. You see its very confusing
and some times you dont know what to do for the best.

My labrador is 15 months old and he still eats twice a day.
I'm sorry I haven't got any advice though.

Fair enough, it was just a thought, I lost my Mum when i was young so I can appreciate how important it is to you but the problem is unfortunately the dogs don't know the difference between one bit of the garden and another

Couldn't agree more, it is so confusing, but if thats what your vets advised I guess all you can do is go on that.

Re: Need help with 3 problems!

Are you planning to breed your bitch?

I would check with the vet to see if she is in pup, and if she can have a mismate.

If the dog is digging up the garden, I'd take him out on a lead and never leave him unsupervised.

My dog is over a year old and he has two meals a day, and always will. I'd recommend getting them both onto two meals a day. I'd also suggest watching when they poo and immediately picking it up so they can eat it.
