Treadmil...

I am trying to get hold of a treadmil (for me).

I want to get a bit more exercise and at the moment going out jogging isnt an option as the time I get to go out, is the time I use to take the dogs, and jogging with them is a disaster. I have to keep stopping.

I thought training them to be beside me while I jog on a treadmil would be good to start off with.

Then I wondered, if its particularly horrible, rather than make the dogs miserable taking them out in the wind and rain (Dixie hates rain) could I get them to run on it too?

Obviously I would not make them run fast or anything, or tie them to it. But has anyone ever used one before with a dog?

Re: Treadmil...

Gotta be careful with treadmills - they're classed as 'dog fighting paraphernalia'

Re: Treadmil...

Never heard that one before..

My dogs certainly arent fighters! Lol

Would I start by treating them for standing on it? I've seen it used for exercising on a well known program before, using rewards.

Re: Treadmil...

Hmmmm no idea, but your well known dog programme person got his arse sued off when a dog in his care almost died strangling itself on one.

Surely they would be ok if not tied to the thing wouldn't they?

Like, if they wanted to get off, they could. I wouldn't be Forcing them to go on there

Did you guys know they sell "dog treadmills"? As in, treadmills just for dogs? It's a bit crazy if you ask me!

Re: Treadmil...

I think its a terrible idea. I would be scared of them breaking their legs etc if they fell. Dogs don't care about the wind and rain, it's the owners that do.
