Question How to calm down a puppy?

So i have a puppy and he is a sharpei cross (unsure about what with i think with a mixed breed) and every night we have trouble putting him to bed because he will keep biting his dog bed. And when we try to pull him away he will try to bite. And when we try to give him his toys to chew instead of his bed, but he just ignores them. We even take him for walks sometimes if he gets like this but it does not help.

Does anyone know what i can do to calm him down so he will be tired for bed?

Puppies will chew and are liveley - the best thing to do at night is too leave him alone, and get a new bed later! You can buy ant-chew sprays from pet shops and supermarkets

If that is your pup's only vice you are doing well

Re: How to calm down a puppy?

dont pull the bed and make it into a game, just leave him to it, you should find if you make a fuss of something theyll do it more what ever it is.
are you sure hes actually tired? you can go past their sleep times and they become wired not wanting to go to sleep, so make sure youve got these two things in order (tiredness and routine of sleep)
shar peis are one of the more independent breed of dogs though and ones i dont particularly like, i belive they dont like being told what to do, but that doesnt mean you should let them get away with things. I know its a cross but they are supposed to be for owners with experience who can give them direction so bare this in mind with future training. All pups like to throw up a fuss though - just a matter of keeping calm and thinking laterally

Blimey for once I agree with James!!!

How much mental/physical exercise does he get?

I've never met a Shar Pei I liked, but I'm sure yours is delightful

Re: How to calm down a puppy?

what is he fed on out of curiosity? Some foods can promote hyperactivity - we had it with buster.

Also echo what james has said about overtiredness - they can be like a stroppy toddler when they get overtired!

Also, what is the routine? does he have a "quiet time" before bed, so he is already chilled and relaxed...i.e not straight after a big fun game.
