Re: Treats or no treats?
Guide Dogs use positive reinforcement, treats to start with, gradualy withdrawing once the pup has a good grasp of what is wanted, and replacing with loads of praise,or favourite toy. This methord has always worked for me when training their pups.(treats is usually the pups own food and is taken from their daily allowance).I was having problems with one pup with recall and used a higher value treat(smackos) or some pieces of chicken, within a few days pups recall was perfect

Re: Treats or no treats?
Yeah we realised this trainer was not what we wanted, we just thought we would give him a try as he sounded so good but his own dogs sleep outside in kennels, get food and water and a run but dont seem to get any love!!
He used to make fun of me as I would feel like I was being horrible to my little baby!! But thats what we want, we want Harley to be part of our family!!
