Don't worry dizzy b....

Listen IMO, don't use a muzzle...not at that age anyhow. Far too young. Because he's a baby. If you were worrried a year down the line about it yes thats prob when i'd muzzle him if he was that bad! That's a nice answer to your question. OK?

Just continue on with your training and hopefully things will fall into place.

Remember to try and encourage your young children to play with him and not be afraid every time he jumps and pounces on them or bites them....he's playing. He's a baby. I don't think he's at the stage of 'ooh you're p***ing me off watch it or i'll bite' yet.

Never said you were stupid, just saying young puupies are like babies they put everything in thier mouths to stop them with a muzzle (a dog that is) without training them doesnt stop the problem.

If your worried about him with the children keep a thin lead on him just so if they run and he chases or hes getting to rough you have a way of getting him before he legs it off you can control him alittle more. My children (and me!) got bitten alot before zeb actually got it my daughter more as shes a hug and squeeze the sort of child, Its hard but as long as your consistant with telling him no he'll learn

You may find once hes able to go for short walks he'll get alot better as some of the pent up engry will be used while walking.

Re: to muzzle or not to muzzle?

Ime sure with the right help from you and the fact he will grow out of it he will be fine, i understand your problem with a young child when mine were at your puppies stage and biting everything they came in contact with oooh god it "hurt" so i can understand a young child being scared, just sit with the child as much a possible and try and put your hand in front of hers/his and if the child is old enough get her/him to put a toy to your dogs mouth each time, i know it might be hard and i know it will but try and ask your child not to squeal/run as this will only excite puppy and make him more excited so therefore more biting. Oh dear its hard but well worth it once he is over this stage, the quicker you react and the more consistant you are the quicker the penny drops. Good luck and come back and tell us how fantastic your pup has done.

Re: to muzzle or not to muzzle?

Yeh... muzzles are sucky, we have to use one right now for a big dog who likes little dogs for dinner

Anyhow, it's normal, i'm sure you have, but just try to educate your kids on why the pup is doing it and to keep a respectful distance at those times where mouthing is prevelant.

As for your dog, try to tackle the issue by replacing your childs hand with a frozen tea towel/puppy kong/soft rope toy etc
