Re: Marking in the house

just want to ask if you have taken your dog to the vets to be checked out as there could be a medical reason behind it.

If you can rule that out id go back to the basis with the training, try putting going to the toilet on cue and give loads of rewards and fuss when he goes outside. the more you praise for going outside the more likely he will choose to go outside. If he gets rewarded only when he goes outside then there will be no point in him going inside. But you will need to make sure the treats are extra special as peeing inside an be self rewarding so you need something that is even better

Re: Marking in the house

He was checked out last monday and given his second injection. This problem has started today. Most of the time he has been going to the toilet in the garden only a few accidents on the carpet. I have decided to leave his bed as it is and wash it tomorrow.

Re: Marking in the house

I find it really hard to fathom why nobody seems to reprimand their dogs when they pee or poo indoors

It's the first thing any puppy should be taught when you bring him/ her into your home. If you don't catch them doing it at least once but find a puddle or pile later on, then are you really paying them enough attention ?
I read that there are no signs, but there are, they sniff and sometimes circle, they make a funny little shape like a squat before being able to do it, seriously... it can't be missed ! When you see any of this you should immediately tell it 'NO' and take it outside where they are supposed to go. If they have managed to do it or some of it when you catch them, show them what they have done wrong and tell them 'NO' before taking them outside. When they then go pee or poo outside, tell them how good they are and reward them... this is how they learn. They won't learn unless they are taught

Rules, boundaries and limitations
