toilet training patterdale terrier

Hi

I have a 16 month patterdale terrier, she is still peeing indoors, she goes out every 4 hours to do her business and every two hours for a pee. We have just taken our soiled carpet up and had laminate put down thinking that without the smell it would cure the problem, but hasnt. Does anyone know if you can buy anything tp prevent this or how to cure the problem. We use a rolled up paper, we dont hit her just show her it and say no.

Any help much appreciated, many thanks
D

Re: toilet training patterdale terrier

Have you had her since she was a puppy?

Id have her checked by a vet, just incase. Was she spayed early, or is she still entire?

Clean anywhere she urinates with biological washing powder. Dont use bleach as this smells like pee to them because of the ammonia and will encourage her to go.

Please dont even threaten her with the newspaper, she wont understand what shes done, and you could possibly make her fearful of peeing at all, resulting in her hiding where she goes. You could also cause her to snap.

If you don't hit her with the newspaper, what is the point of showing it to her and saying no? What is that going to mean to her? Do you think she's going to think "Oh dear, better wee outside or else they'll make me do the crossword"?
